If your protection device has been broken, stopped working, lost or stolen, you can request a replacement from your dealer. Normally, we will proceed to cancel the license associated with the device, issue a new license associated with the new device and ship it to the customer. There will be a charge for the new device, a re-license charge, and in most cases, a shipping charge.
Starting with version 20, Sierra-Software made available a new software protection mode for Perpetual Licenses products called KeyLess. In this mode, it is not required a physical device plugged in the computer to authenticate the validity of the software license. KeyLess products have, among others, the following advantages over dongle products:
•No risk of work interruption due to broken or missed protection device
•Your software always remains safe, no matter if your computer get lost or is stolen.
•All KeyLess products include 2 licenses allowing you to install and use the software in 2 computers at the same time
If you are faced with a device replacement situation, consider converting your dongle license to KeyLess. In most cases it will be cheaper and you will be able to get back to using your software much faster. However, if you are using a version 17 or earlier product, you will need to update it to version 20 before converting to KeyLess, as this mode is only available from version 20. To make the migration to the version 20 KeyLess mode from versions 17 and earlier products easier, we have prepared a one-step, Update to version 20 + Convert to KeyLess process.
You may ask your Dealer about both, the physical dongle replacement service or the conversion to KeyLess service as well. Also, if you are using a product of version 17 or higher, you may request any of these services by yourself from the Users Area:
1- Login into the Users Area with your UserId and Password
2- Look for your serial number within the My Products - Perpetual Licenses list and click the + sign
3- In the Product Details box, click the link "Dongle broken or missed ?" (located at the right side)
